Late response to submission?

We've had problems with our query mail address, so suggest you use the Contact form from the main menu.

Forty percent of submissions will receive a reply within a few days. Fifty percent could be waiting three months as we are wading through a backlog. My apologies. We currently have a very small percentage of stories awaiting a decision from as far back as October 2010. By all means request an update after two months of your sending if you'd prefer reassurance.

If you have been waiting a long time and are feeling frustrated and want to submit somewhere else we understand, but please let us know that's what you have decided. It helps everyone. A recent rejection we sent was answered with "Oh, I placed that with [so-and-so] months ago"; which frustrates us because we could have been considering someone else's story - one of the reasons we frown upon simultaneous submissions (ie sent to more than one market).

We don't want you waiting around unnecessarily, or Murky Depths getting a bad reputation about responding!
